Second of all, there's not once ounce of metal or a trace of heaviness for that matter. Rather, ACS has more of an off-beat, quirky but non-threatening appeal to them. This is in part thanks to the lack of distortion and Lydia's ability to talk loudly into the mic rather than scream at the top of her lungs. The production is no-nonsense. Raw. Honest. You hear every instrument in its real form, giving this LP an intimate, live feel, as if you're a fly on the wall of the band's rehearsal space. Travølta manages to find that rare balance of fun and fury by clearly loving what they do and by having a legitimate bone to pick with the world at large. Pissed off and unafraid to piss others off, they wear their politics on their sleeves, speaking out against prejudice in all its forms and doing so with Nico's genuine, screaming rage.

Along with cleverly placed samples (including one from Doug Stanhope, which made this Arizona boy proud), Travølta's tempo changes bring the violence to this record, and they are perfectly calibrated for a street riot. Rik's blast-beat clashes give way to the persistent, intentional rhythm of slow marching, and then to the explosions of bricks through windows. The punchiness of Kevin's bass sounds like early punk, like The Stooges, Minutemen, or The Clash if they had to keep at pace with Niels' furious right hand, which alternates between fast-picked riffing and chunky, punch-a-hole-in-your-local-racist power chords.

Co-released with a bunch of fine labels.

A barrage of current high-speed hardcore, grindcore and punk bands from all over Europe, including: KNIFED, CINDER, FxPxO, BIZARRE X, DESTROYER, INFANTICIDE, POINTING FINGER, MIHOEN, SEE YOU IN HELL, BURN ALL FLAGS, CHOICE OF MY OWN, DISYOUTH ARMY, DISSCAP, EARTH TODAY, FLAME STILL BURNS, JOHN DEERE, LAHAR, LET'S GROW, MUSTANG REPORT, PANACEJA, SECOND THOUGHT, SIKA, STEP ON IT, TEKKEN, and VIOLENT PACIFICATION. This is the official USA glass-mastered CD and the insert folds out into a poster honoring the life of late bassist/vocals Alexandre "Bucho" Strambio who was taken too early from this world.

They say that it takes ten thousand hours to master anything. Using that logic, Boise's HUMMINGBIRD OF DEATH has then practiced a bit over two hours a day for their twelve years as a band to hit this mark right before going into the studio to record Forbidden Techniques because the Boise boys have put together an absolute masterpiece. Twenty four songs in twenty four minutes will decimate your mind and memory for twenty four hours after listening. HOD has been perfecting their song and taken nods from NEOS, LARM, ELECTRO-HIPPIES, and all things fast and has taken twelve days in the studio formulating a fastcore mental maze of weaving/looping riffs and runs that will leave you breathless and satisfied. This is the best recording, best effort, and best material of the ever-evolving purveyors of playing faster than fast. They are one of the most frustratingly undefinable bands out there mixing general metal aesthetic into a stew of subgenres ranging from sludge and doom to perfectly cultivated thrash parts and plenty of punk, hardcore, and powerviolence influence spices to get a perfect boiling mixture that has been thought about and talked about since it came out originally in 2001. The original release came out on a band member's label alongside releases from DYSTOPIA, GRIEF, EYEHATEGOD, and 16 to name a few and CROM is fully deserving to stand next to those bands. In 2023 we have taken the original masters and given them the white glove treatment and enlisted Nick Townsend whose mastering and audio work includes such big releases from JIMI HENDRIX to PEARL JAM to DR DRE to NAILS to the DIY likes of REGIONAL JUSTICE CENTER and FIREBURN. Nick worked with Phil from the band to create a perfect representation of what this release needed to sound bigger and fuller in the over twenty-year time since it came out. This definitive edition is the best sounding time capsule of what the band really encompasses and deserves. Similar attention has been given to the artwork, with freshly scanned Carlos Vera artwork and the vinyl version has the cover art sized perfectly to fit its gatefold cover. The resulting release will have you smashing high gravity Steel Reserve along side the band. To quote the mostly unreleased unofficial CROM documentary trailer "How does the audience respond to CROM? By either leaving or losing their fucking mind". This record will make you do the latter. However, Florida is also home to some of the fiercest punk bands imaginable. HEAVEN'S GATE is one such band. Instead of exuding the raw grime of ASSÜCK, HEAVEN'S GATE channels their rage into a powerful, concise, blast-beating behemoth. With members of bands that will wow you, the band really wants their music to speak for itself, so we won't mention that they have the ranks of CANNIBAL CORPSE, MUNICIPAL WASTE, REVERAL OF MAN, or WARTHOG members aboard. Their riffs are infectious in the way that bands like BIB and BLOODKROW BUTCHER haunt you but more in a way if you spit-shined the sound and added a good measure of blast beats to put a smile on the face of those who worship at the altar of SPAZZ, INFEST, or DRI. This album fills so many wants in an album while not being derivative or really being a copy of any related bands. Without boring you more with a description, do yourself a favor and check out HEAVEN'S GATE and you won't be disappointed. SPY is one of the newest and fiercest additions to that lineage. In just a few short releases, the band carved out a reputation for explosive brevity, serrated riffs, and an intensity that feels rooted in political disdain and nihilism.

Two Things At Once brings together SPY’s first two EPs, Service Weapon and Habitual Offender, on a single disc for the first time, presenting the full picture of the band’s early formation and the rapid refinement of their sound.

Originally released in 2020, Service Weapon announced SPY with the subtlety of a flashbang. These tracks hit fast, hard, and hostile, distilling the urgency of early 2000s hardcore with a distinctly contemporary edge. The band wastes no time; each song is a tightly packed charge of raw speed, precision drumming, and venomous vocal delivery that built immediate momentum for their ascent. Habitual Offender followed swiftly in 2021, sharpening every weapon in the band's arsenal. The riffs got meaner, the production hit heavier, and the songwriting expanded without losing the band’s trademark ferocity. Spy stepped confidently into a larger sonic space - one filled with groove, bite, and a newfound sense of command. If the first EP was a warning shot, this one was the breach. Presented together, these two releases trace SPY’s evolution from promising disruptor to one of the most vital acts in modern hardcore. Two Things At Once is both a document of the band’s origins and a testament to how quickly they pushed the limits of their sound.

TLDR: Pure immediacy.
